DRRH-2

Background:
DRRH-2 an early duration (115 days) rice hybrid possessing long slender translucent grains with high head rice recovery has been developed by IIRR, Hyderabad and released for commercial cultivation during 2005. DRRH-2 is resistant to leaf blast, neck blast and rice tungro disease. It is moderately tolerant to sheath rot, brown spot and WBPH. It also has done well in rain fed and alkaline conditions. DRRH 2 has been released and notified by Central Sub-Committee on Crop Standards and Notification of Varieties (CSCCS & NV) in the year 2005. It bears Notification No: 1566 (E) dated 5-11-2005.:
Technology Details:
This hybrid which matures in 115 days is the earliest among the hybrids released so far. In national evaluation trials, this hybrid registered yield advantages of 33% over the national check Annada, 22% over the local checks and 24% over the hybrid check Pant Sankar Dhan-1. This hybrid has the highest per day productivity of 46 kg/ha as against 34 - 35 kg/ha of Annada and Pant Sankar Dhan-1. It has resistance to leaf blast, RTD and moderate resistance to brown spot and WBPH. DRRH-2 is suitable for cultivation in the States of Uttar Pradesh (particularly eastern UP), Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana and Tripura. Being early, this hybrid is suitable for cultivation in the North India (in rice wheat cropping systems).
